The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled an extensive network of planned and emergency maintenance exercises across four regions for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to scores of communities in the Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra enclaves.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with most beginning at 9:00 am, though the duration of interruptions will differ depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Ashanti Region, two separate maintenance exercises have been scheduled. The first, a planned operation, will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Mamponteng, Aboaso, Ntonsso, Dumanafo, Ankaase, Asonomaso Nkwanta, Safo, Kona, and surrounding areas. A second, emergency maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting Christian Service University, Atonsu S-Line, Afanko, Dompoase, Santasi Roundabout, TUC, parts of Dakodwom, and surrounding areas.

In the Central Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Afrangua, Mpeseduadze, Obokor, Jedu, Abandze, Egyaa Nos. 1, 2, and 3, Briwa, Asafora, Barrier, parts of Anomabo, and surrounding areas. The seven-hour outage will impact communities across this coastal corridor.

The Accra East Region will experience a planned exercise from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Islamic University, parts of Adjiringanor, Striker, Oasis, parts of Okpoigonno, and surrounding areas. The eight-hour outage will impact residential and educational facilities in these growing suburbs.

These scheduled interventions come as the ECG continues to manage the aftermath of Sunday's heavy rainstorm, which affected 57 feeders in Accra and Tema. As of Sunday evening, 38 had been restored while 19 remained outstanding, with restoration efforts ongoing. Additionally, engineers continue to address a cable fault at Amasaman in the Accra West Region, which has disrupted power to Amasaman, Fise, Urban Roads, the Hospital, Municipal Assembly, Lakisha Hotel, Slaughter House, China Mall, and surrounding areas.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the ongoing restoration efforts. The company urged customers experiencing outages to report through its Contact Centre, the ECG PowerApp, or its official social media handles, while assuring the public that engineers are working diligently to fully restore power across the regions.
