It was a social experiment - Rapper Edem clarifies bid for political office
It is not April Fool’s Day yet but it seems award winning rapper, Edem has succeeded in deceiving the public with what he describes as “social experiment” when he put out an announcement on social media on Tuesday (March 21, 2023).
He had put out a poster on his verified accounts on social media and indicated he was going to make a "big announcement" the following day.

He used symbols and colours of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and since the opposition party was currently filing nominations for parliamentary and presidential aspirants, there was a conclusion by some that Edem was seeking political office on the ticket of the NDC.
It was either he was going for a parliamentary bid or was going to declare as an active member of the NDC and was going to openly join the campaign.
The Nyedzilo artiste received huge congratulations, especially from players in the creative industry but he raised eyebrows and perhaps, had people watering down the importance of the announcement when he posted a flier of him in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) colours the following day on Wednesday (March 22, 2023).
With the new post, many of his followers had anticipated that Edem was up to something and that is exactly what has happened after disclosing in a post Wednesday evening that his purported political move was a social "experiment".
In the said post, he noted that he wanted to verify how Ghanaians were tolerant of divergent views in politics and how people are excited to see more young people take up political positions among others.
The post read post
“Social Experiment
- Are Ghanaians tolerant of divergent views in Politics, and do media houses verify facts on information gotten before making it news ?
- Are people excited to see more young people take up Political Positions?
- How do individuals of different political parties react towards each other?
Do people’s political views influence their attitudes, behaviours, and decision-making?
