Jubed celebrates African roots and personal journey in new EP “From the Soil”
Emerging Ghanaian Afro-fusion artist, Jubed, has released his much-anticipated 5-track extended play (EP), From the Soil — a vibrant, introspective, and rhythmically daring project that pays tribute to his African heritage, life experiences, and artistic growth.
The EP follows the remarkable success of his breakout single, “Ruwa”, a compelling fusion of Hausa melodic sensibilities and the infectious bounce of Amapiano, which quickly became a continental hit and street anthem across Ghana and beyond.
“Ruwa really set the tone for me. It was raw, emotional, and rooted in who I am,” Jubed said in an interview. “With From the Soil, I wanted to go deeper. This project is a reflection of where I’m from — the rawness, the pain, the joy, the beauty. I wanted to make something that felt rooted but still fresh. From the Soil is my way of honouring my beginnings, my culture, and the journey I’ve taken to find my voice. Every beat, every lyric carries something personal, something African, something real.”
Opening with “Abena” — a love ballad featuring the soulful Kojo Blak — the EP masterfully blends traditional highlife instrumentation with Amapiano rhythms, showcasing Jubed’s deft ability to balance emotion with groove. The second track, “Jo!” (meaning “dance” in the Ga language), explodes with energy as an ode to joy and the kinetic spirit of Accra’s nightlife.
The acclaimed “Ruwa” anchors the EP at its midpoint, continuing to draw praise for its cultural pride and sonic originality. “Gabaya”, the fourth track, dives deeper into Jubed’s signature blend of tradition and trend, fusing folk chants with contemporary beats in a way that feels both nostalgic and new.
The project concludes with an electrifying remix of “Kilode” featuring Nigerian pop star Seyi Shay. Their cross-border collaboration brings a pan-African flavour to the EP, reinforcing Jubed’s growing reputation as an artist unafraid to reach across cultures while staying grounded in his identity.
All five tracks were produced by Kizzy and Egar Boi, with mixing and mastering handled by Authentic Mix — whose expert production adds a warm, polished feel to the deeply emotional and sonically layered collection.
With From the Soil, Jubed cements his position as one of Ghana’s most exciting new voices — a storyteller shaped by tradition, yet fully plugged into the pulse of contemporary African music. The EP is now available on all major streaming platforms.
