Meet Esther Godwyll: TGMA26 Best Female Vocal Performer winner
When Esther Godwyll's name was announced as the winner of Best Female Vocal Performance, the awkward "eiii" reaction from the audience, rather than thunderous applause, suggested that many weren't familiar with her work.
Gospel musician, Esther beat favourites in the category, Naana Asiedu and Lordina the Soprano as well as Titi Owusu, and Mima Afrika to get the bragging rights as TGMA26 Best Female Vocalist.
Her performance on her song, I Choose to Praise earned her the top spot in a highly competitive category.
Esther Godwyll may not be a household name yet, but she's making waves on the gospel music scene and her recent win is helping her gain more recognition.
Describing herself as a seasoned Gospel artiste, worshipper, vocal coach and music director, Godwyll has been making waves with her soul-stirring music.
Her songs such as I Choose to Praise, Jehovah is Your Name, and Faithful God showcase her impressive vocal range and emotive delivery.
This is the second time she was nominated for the category. The first was in 2022 when she came up against the likes of Celestine Donkor and Adina. (Read #TGMA26: Here is the full list of winners)

She acknowledged the contributions of renowned music producer, Rev Shadrach Yawson, appreciating his relentless support, guidance, and even rebukes, which she believes have helped shape her into the artiste she is today.
Apart from winning TGMA26 Best Female Vocal Performer, Esther Godwyll has earned Best New Artiste of the Year nomination at 2024 Praise Achievement of the Year, Best Female Vocalist of the Year at 2022 Ghana Music Awards UK and in the same year, she was nominated Most Promising Gospel Artiste at iConic Social Media Lifestyle awards.
