Miss Ghana Rumzia takes Ghana’s bigger story to Miss World

WITH the Miss World Festival currently underway in Vietnam, Miss Ghana 2026, Rumzia Sule, says she wants to use the international platform to tell a broader Ghanaian story - one that highlights the country’s people, innovation, creativity and potential.

The International Relations and Diplomacy student believes Ghana’s global identity should be shaped not only by its tourist attractions, but also by the achievements of its young people, entrepreneurs, creatives, innovators and peacebuilders.

“Every country has a story shaped by its people, innovation, culture and diplomacy. I want the world to see Ghana as a nation of talented young people, entrepreneurs, creatives, peacebuilders and innovators,” she told the Graphic Showbiz in an interview ahead of her participation at the Miss World Festival.

Rumzia, who is representing Ghana at the 75th Anniversary edition of Miss World in Vietnam, sees the pageant as more than a beauty competition. For her, the international platform provides an opportunity to engage the world in conversations about Ghana’s identity and potential.

“Beauty may open the door, but meaningful conversations about our people and our potential are what leave a lasting impression,” she said.

She believes Ghana must continue to be deliberate about telling her own story and giving international audiences a fuller picture of what the country has to offer.

“We should continue investing in telling our own stories. Ghana has so much to offer — our culture, innovation, entrepreneurship, arts, and talented young people deserve greater international visibility. By celebrating these strengths consistently, we can strengthen Ghana’s global image,” she said.

Her comments come as Ghana’s participation at this year’s Miss World has also been positioned as an opportunity to showcase the country’s culture, heritage and national identity.

Ahead of her departure, the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President, in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, presented Rumzia with Ghana’s official gift for the Miss World Charity Auction, a symbolic piece inspired by the Independence Arch.

According to Rumzia, consistently highlighting Ghana’s strengths can help strengthen the country’s global image, while creating greater visibility for young Ghanaians whose work and achievements may not always receive international attention.

Her approach is also influenced by her academic background and her long-standing ambition to pursue a career in diplomacy.

Rumzia says becoming Miss Ghana has not replaced her dream of becoming an ambassador; rather, the crown has strengthened that ambition by allowing her to practise leadership, representation and service on a larger platform.

“My dream of becoming an ambassador, becoming Miss Ghana, has not changed that dream — it has strengthened it. I hope to continue using leadership and service to represent Ghana on even bigger platforms in the future,” she said.

Beyond Ghana’s image abroad, Rumzia also wants her reign to directly impact young people through Project Inspire Ghana, implemented under the Miss Ghana Foundation.

The initiative focuses on youth empowerment through education, mentorship and entrepreneurship, areas she believes can give young people the confidence and practical tools to build better futures.

“My goal is not only to inspire them to dream but to equip them with the tools to turn those dreams into reality,” she said.

The Miss World 2026 final is on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
