Miss Ghana woos Ghanaians in the Diaspora

Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the annual Miss Ghana pageant, have revealed that Ghanaians in the Diaspora will participate in the beauty contest this year.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s pageant held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Thursday, August 2, Miss Inna Maryam Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events Ghana, said the exciting innovative twist is the concept of welcoming Ghanaians living in the Diaspora to compete in Miss Ghana.

“We shall begin with seven countries this year. These young ladies shall be given the singular honour of contributing to the various sociocultural and economic interventions that Miss Ghana Foundation promotes.

They will also get the opportunity to assimilate Ghanaian culture and heritage globally,” she said.

Miss Patty used the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate President Akufo-Addo and the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and all other government agencies for their unwavering support especially during Miss Ghana 60 Years On events and projects last year.

According to Miss Patty, every year, the Miss Ghana Foundation embarked on projects to resolve some societal challenges such as regular and voluntary blood donation, feminine hygyiene sensitisation and UNAIDS Protect the Goal campaign among others.

“This year, a maiden project started in 2012 by the then Northern Regional queens, Josephine Aryitey and Rufina Boateng and later assisted by the subsequent title holders Naa Okailey Shooter, Nadia Ntanu, Afua Asieduwaa Akrofi and others in the alleged Witches Camp of Nabuli-Gushegu has been completed,” she said.

“Special thanks to our sucessful queens Naa Okailey Shooter, Nadia Ntanu, Afua Asieduwaa Akrofi and the amazing benevolence of our sponsors we are proud to announce to you, our distinguished guests and fellow Ghanaians, the completion of a sustainable, clean and safe water system project. Beauty with a purpose goes beyond crown, car and cash, it must be a complete dedication to the people and to the nation.”

“Another breakthrough project adopted by the Miss Ghana Foundation is its partnership with FOCOS Orthopedic Centre to help raise about $20,000 for the successful treatment of a fourteen-year-old scoliosis patient who could have been paralysed for life,” she said.
