Nii Okai rallies High Schoolers to support children with hole-in-heart

A fundraising initiative led by Nii Okai Ministries (NOM) during its flagship High School Praise event, raised GHS100,000 donated to the National Cardiothoracic Centre (NCTC) to support life-saving surgeries for children with hole-in-heart conditions.

The presentation was made during the Music and Worship Legacy Dinner recently at Hephzibah Christian Centre.

The money was raised from contributions from students, coupled with seed money from IT Consortium (ITC) via the Chango crowdfunding platform.

Speaking at the event, Rev. Nii Okai commended the students for embracing the Saving Hearts challenge and mobilising resources from peers, parents and alumni.

“We are building a generation that not only worships but also impacts lives. These are young people raising funds to help young people in addition to deploying their musical talents. We appreciate all participating students and their school authorities for rising to the challenge, and also our corporate partners and friends who continue to support our efforts.” comments Nii Okai.

The donation was jointly presented by Mrs. Cecilia Oppan, General Manager of Tema International School (TIS), together with Mr. Franklin Eleblu, Chief Technology Officer of ITC and Pastor Abraham Asiedu, Chief Executive Officer of Sweet Music Pro Audio.

Prof. Nana Akyaa Yao, Chief Paediatric Cardiologist, received the donation on behalf of The National Cardio-Thoracic Center.

“Surgeries range between $6,000 and $10,000, so on behalf of all the children we serve, we say a very big thank you. It’s refreshing that our worship goes beyond walls and translates into saving the hearts of these little children.” she commented.

High School Praise 2025 was hosted in partnership with the Tema International School, with guest choirs from Life International College, Ghana Christian International High School, Vine Christian High School, and Akosombo International School.

The concert also featured guest seasoned and emerging artistes including Cofi Boham, Naa Mercy, Edem Evangelist, Sammee Crentsil and the team from Nii Okai Ministries.

The programme also included a live taping of Nii Okai’s new music including the remix of “Foundations”—his latest amapiano single and theme song for the campaign—backed by the High School Mass Choir.

Tema International School were earlier presented with a Pearl Roadshow Drum Set, during a Partners’ Service at The iChurch, as the highest fundraising school. Each participating school is to receive a gift item from Sweet Music Pro Audio.
