Woolard, 38, was taken into custody at his home in Gwinnett County, Georgia last Saturday after his stepson made the call to police, saying, 'Dad hit Mom,' according to TMZ.

The Brooklyn-born rapper was 'booked for battery, cruelty to children, and simple assault,' the news site reported.

TMZ which obtained the police report and 911 tape reported that Woolard choked his wife with both hands because he didn't like how she was talking to their daughter.

The website further revealed that Woolard's stepson, who is 15, called 911 and told the operator, 'My stepdad, he hit my mom and he's acting crazy.'

Then the boy is heard yelling at Woolard: 'You're going to jail.'

Woolard's stepson said his mother was 'making choking sounds' and that he stood up to Woolard saying, 'I'm tired of you disrespecting my mom'.

TMZ further claimed that police arrived to find broken furniture in the house.

Woolard captured attention when he nabbed the role of the late Notorious B.I.G. aka Christopher Wallace from his beginnings as a street hustler to one of the biggest selling rap artists of all time.

He's also had roles in 2003's Love Don't Cost A Thing and last year's Daisy And Ray.

Jamal recently completed the war drama, Another Stateside, which is scheduled for release sometime this year and also stars Zane Holtz, Heather McComb and Fairuza Balk.
