Okyeame Kwame addresses feminism on 'Woman'
FOR the past 25 years, popular Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame has been waxing stronger and stronger on the music scene and he doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon. Just last Friday, August 19, he dropped a brand new song Woman.
Woman, produced by Abochi focuses on the plight women go through in society and the criticisms they have to endure just by doing what makes them happy.
Woman which features amazing singer Sista Afia is evident gender is merely a social construct and that women can play important roles in making exciting and creative decisions just like men.

Okyeame Kwame also known as Rap Dacta told Graphic Showbiz that he was motivated to write the song on women as a result of historical marginalisation and denigration of women.
"Based on how I was raised to see women, I decided to write a song to add my voice to feminism and to discuss the simple things women have to go through and endure. I want to change the narrative where a woman is valued more when she is married”, he said.
He added that he got the inspiration from Amakye Dede's song, To Be A Man. “I realised Amakye Dede did his song to discuss the problems associated with being a man so I decided to do a female version of it”, Okyeame Kwame noted.
The Woso hitmaker said it is time for women because they are doing amazingly well in all facets of life but have seen less appreciation.
Speaking about how he wants to change the narrative about women, he says the song's lyrics are sufficient to cause controversy and that it also includes thematic elements that women and society can relate to.
"The song aims at starting a conversation on women and what society has ascribed to them,’’ he added.
