Remitly’s support was pivotal to success of Ghana Party in the Park – Akwaaba UK CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Akwaaba UK, Mr Dennis Tawiah, has lauded global money transfer platform Remitly for its instrumental role in the successful organisation of the 20th anniversary edition of the Ghana Party in the Park (GPITP) festival held in London.

The much-anticipated celebration, which took place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Barnet Playing Fields, attracted thousands of festival-goers and was completely sold out, making it one of the most memorable editions of the event.

Speaking in an interview after the event, Mr Tawiah expressed immense gratitude to Remitly for their financial and logistical support, describing the company’s contribution as timely and vital.

“First of all, we thank the fans for showing up for the 20th anniversary and also our major sponsor Remitly for providing the support to make the festival a memorable one,” he said. “Their intervention to support was very timely, and we want to appreciate the support, and we hope to have them onboard for next year's event.”

Mr Tawiah further encouraged the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom and across Europe to take advantage of the various offers available on the Remitly app.

“I urge the Ghanaian community in the UK and across Europe to make use of the Remitly mobile app on Google Play and Apple Store and get many various offers,” he added.

As a headline sponsor, Remitly not only backed the festival financially but also engaged patrons with exciting giveaways and branded experiences that added to the festive atmosphere, reaffirming its commitment to support iconic African cultural events in the diaspora.

The 2025 GPITP music concert featured thrilling performances from some of Ghana’s top music acts, with King Promise, the reigning Artiste of the Year, headlining the show with an energetic set that drew widespread acclaim.

Also performing on the night were Kweku Smoke, crowned Best Rapper of the Year, DopeNation, Flowking Stone, Cina Soul, MOLIY, Beeztrap KOTM, and international Afrobeat star Fuse ODG. Each act brought a unique flavour to the stage, highlighting the diversity and dynamism of Ghana’s music scene.

Beyond the music, the festival also celebrated Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, with exhibitions of traditional cuisine, fashion, and a business expo designed to promote Ghanaian brands and entrepreneurs.

The Ghana Party in the Park, which began two decades ago as a community picnic, has since grown into one of the most significant African cultural festivals in Europe. It serves as a platform for cultural exchange, music promotion, and national pride among Ghanaians living in the diaspora.

With this year’s success and the support of sponsors like Remitly, organisers say they are already planning a bigger and better event for 2026.
