Spotlight Awards: Van Calebs receives humanitarian award for tackling streetism

Ghanaian entertainer Van Calebs has received a humanitarian award for tackling streetism among young girls and helping aged women and widows.

Van Calebs through his “Walking Stick” Foundation, has touched numerous lives on the streets by offering support to young girls who live on the streets.

At the second edition of the Spotlight Creative Arts and Business Awards held at the Snap Cinemas in Accra, Van Calebs who is a dancer, received an award in recognition of his contributions towards providing some respite to street children.

A citation given to him read: “Your passion to support others is worthy of praise. Individuals like you have contributed immensely to the growth of many. On this occasion, we want to appreciate your good work.”

Van Calebs was also adjudged the Best Publicist of the Year, for his contribution to the growth of creative arts.

Speaking in an interview after receiving the awards, Van Calebs expressed gratitude to the organisers of the awards for recognising his efforts.

“I feel honoured to receive this recognition and I am poised to do more in my various endeavours. You don’t need to be rich to help others, so I would pursue this agenda relentlessly.

“It has not been easy over the past few years, especially with the rampant rise of issues of streetism, but I would play my part in changing lives,” he said.
