Students of TIS donate GH¢17,000 to Nii Okai’s Saving Hearts Foundation
Students of Tema International School (TIS) have donated GH¢17,000 to support the Saving Hearts campaign, an initiative by Nii Okai’s Saving Hearts Foundation (NOSHF), which seeks to fund life-saving heart surgeries for children in need.
The donation was spearheaded by the school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Class of 2027 in collaboration with the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) Coordinator, Mrs. Surama King.
The funds were officially presented on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, to representatives of Nii Okai Ministries.
Student leader LesleyAnn Hyde explained that the fundraising effort gained international support after she shared details of the campaign with her mother, who helped coordinate additional contributions from supporters in the United States.
Founder of Nii Okai Ministries, Rev. Nii Okai, commended the students for what he described as a “remarkable demonstration of compassion and leadership,” emphasizing that the contribution would significantly support children requiring open heart surgery.
Congenital and other severe heart conditions continue to pose serious and costly medical challenges for many families in Ghana. NOSHF, a non-profit organisation, is therefore dedicated to raising funds to help underprivileged Ghanaian children access open-heart surgeries.
Since its inception, the foundation, working with various partners, has successfully sponsored 25 heart surgeries for children across the country.
The latest donation builds on previous support generated through NOM’s flagship High School Praise event, held in partnership with TIS last year, which raised GH¢100,000 from participating schools and partners and was presented to the National Cardiothoracic Centre.
This contribution from TIS is expected to further support efforts to fund additional life-saving surgeries.
