Written by Amin Ramart with a theme ‘good-over-evil’, The Agency is the second action film from the production company after Terminus which came out last year.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Snap Cinemas in Accra on Monday, July 18, the director of the movie, Abu Iddris said it was an erroneous impression that Ghanaian movie enthusiasts disliked action movies.

“One may ask, of all the Ghanaian stories we could tell, why the crime-action thriller genres? Well, we believe that the number one reason why people go to the cinemas is to get entertained with exciting and thrilling stories they do not experience in everyday life.

“We want to do genres that people rarely attempt and want to be leaders in the action thriller area because we can and we are focused on positioning ourselves for challenges like this.

"The Agency delivers absolute entertainment, with a lot of thrill and chills to give the audience more than value for money and to dare doubting Thomases of the potential of Ghanaian filmmakers,” he said.

Amin Ramar is the Executive Producer of The Agency which tells the story of a very powerful government security agency formed to handle the government’s top-secret operations.

However, it is corrupted under the leadership of a highly connected female government appointee who uses the agency for ‘back-door’ business dealings, causing the emergence of a group of highly skilled individuals to embark on a self-sanctioned mission to end the corruption and abuse.

According to Amin Ramar, the main goal of the production is to entertain and make a conscious attempt to defy gender stereotyping in the Ghanaian film industry where lead action roles are typically reserved for men.

“By casting women in lead roles, The Agency proves that Ghana has great female actors who if empowered with the necessary skills and led by great directors, can take on roles like these and even more challenging ones,” he said.

The media, cast and crew present watched the first official teaser trailer of The Agency at the press conference.
