VGMA 2019: Sarkodie, Lydia Forson, others flee after fight
The VGMA, an event that was supposed to celebrate the hard work of musicians, turned out to be something that industry players have described as a disgrace on Saturday night.
A fight that broke out between the camps of Dancehall artistes, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, led to the show being held up for 30 minutes and caused outrage on social media with very harsh comments.
The VGMA began on a very smooth, relaxed note but later saw some of the celebrities who had come to support and present awards leaving the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre in fear for their lives as the brawl erupted and a gun was even pulled on the stage.

Celebrities like Jackie Appiah, Lydia Forson, John Dumelo and Sarkodie left the event grounds while the fight was ongoing.
Describing the situation on Twitter, Lydia Forson said it was very traumatising and thanked Sarkodie for helping her escape.
In a series of tweets, she said:
"Home now, I'm good. seems calm has been restored and the show is still going on and people are able to have some fun. Thanks for all your kind words. May we all know and do better"
"I've never been so disgusted and traumatized in my life!!! GUNS??!!!"
"You people weren't there so you don't get how traumatizing this experience was. do you know how many tragedies have happened because of stampedes??"
A"ll I can say is thank you to @sarkodie for helping me out"

"Hardcore Hardcore but you won't keep the same energy for politicians who're screwing us over !!!! Gyimi"
"Listen I don't know who's to blame and I don't care. All I know is that what happened is unacceptable - this is NOT who we are."
The fight came about as Shatta Wale tried to go on stage when Stonebwoy was receiving his award for Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Apparently, Shatta was going to congratulate Stonebwoy on the award and perhaps make peace but the latter's team was not willing to let them on stage and that led to the brawl.
