Wives of MPs have failed to use their ‘powers’, says Empress Gifty
Gospel singer Empress Gifty has stated that wives of Member of Parliament (MPs) have failed to make good use of the privilege and opportunity given to their husbands.
In an interview on Joy Prime's Changes show, the Watch Me singer stated that being an MP’s wife came with numerous obligations that the latter aren’t doing.

“If my husband were a Member of Parliament, I would have utilised the MP wife role and made the other MP wives wake up. They would admire what I'm doing because people don't even know most of them and there are a lot of responsibilities they can do with that mandate given to her husband."
The musician recently opened up about her absence from her husband's campaign trail, citing the difference in their professions as the main reason.
She's chosen to take a step back and offer her support through prayers, allowing her to focus on her own career and financial stability.
“My husband is doing his job and he is a politician, not Empress. I'm for the masses. So, now I'm in my lane. When my husband is embarking on any campaign, I support him with prayers."
Empress Gifty has been married to Ghanaian politician Hopeson Adorye for five years and she was very supportive of her husband when he contested for the Kpone-Akatamanso parliamentary seat in 2020.
She expressed no regrets about accompanying him to campaign events at the time, emphasising the importance of women supporting their husbands in achieving their goals.

In fact, Empress Gifty is confident that she'll become either an MP or President's wife in the future, noting that others should not be surprised when it happens.
