Don’t prank if you can’t take the heat – Giovani Caleb

SINCE he took over the Drive show on 3FM, Giovani Caleb has captured the attention of many with his antics. However, on Fridays, he has the capital locked down with his prank calls.

He pranks personalities from all spheres on different topics but it is the ones that have to do with relationships that are a big hit with people.

People ask Giovani to prank their significant others to test their faithfulness or otherwise or to find out the status of their relationships.

And while there have been some embarrassing moments for some of those pranked which has elicited a lot of laughs, there are some people who are not comfortable with it and believe Giovani and his team are destroying relationships.

However, in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, he denied that opinion saying, “We do not only focus on relationships, we prank siblings, celebrities, anyone at all so it is not like it is targeted at marriage or anything like that. We are not destroying people's relationships.”

Giovani also warned couples not to take part in the pranks if they do not have the heart to handle the answers they will get.

“You should be ready for any answer. If you do not have the heart to handle the answer just do not try it.

"There are instances where I have to later call the people who got disappointed and talk to them, some I refer them for counselling etc. It's quite risky but then sometimes too you need to know the truth,” he said.

Giovani said he had been doing this since his career started although it has gotten serious since he joined 3FM revealing that the feedback so far has been crazy.

"It gives me so much joy and fulfillment that people look forward to it every week, the comments since we started have been really amazing,” he disclosed.

Giving insight to what it takes to pull off such pranks he said, “You need to be super smart and always ahead of the person you are pranking; You should be on top of your game, and always be ready to counter any response that the victim will give you,” he said.

Does Giovani have plans of stopping? “No, it has been going on for a while and we are not backing down. the team is currently putting in a lot of work to make it more interesting, we have a lot coming up,” he answered.

Speaking about winning the Late Afternoon Show Host of the Year (Radio) at the recently held Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards Giovani Caleb said, “it is great, we are grateful to our fans for the love and support they have showed us andwe ask that they continue. For us, it means it is time for hard work.”
