American TV comedy series with Nigerian lead actor gets 5M viewers in one night
Nigerian comedy show, Bob Hearts Abishola, has hit a significant milestone after 5 million people watched the series in the U.S on Monday.
The sitcom is centered around Bob, a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit.
Bob unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over.
Actor Billy Gardell played the role of Bob in the popular sitcom.
Bob Hearts Abishola is currently the favourite of many and has a dedicated five million viewers weekly.
The sitcom created by Chuck LorreIt, Eddie Gorodetsky, Al Higgins, and Gina Yashere was launched and aired its first episode on September 23.
Wamu reports that the show is an exceptional moment in U.S. television.
In an interview with Wamu, Chuck Lorre said that “Dapo Oyewole, a Nigerian scholar and international development expert, is already a fan of the series.”
Chuck Lorre added that the scholar praised the comedy show as being a powerful series that hinges on the universal phenomenon of love.
