VLISCO supports COLTEK’s exhibition, fashion show
The donation is in support of the department’s annual Exhibition and Fashion Show organised for final year students.
This year’s show is slated for April 23-24, 2020 and will be on the theme: “Projecting African Culture through Creativity.”
Presentation
Presenting the items, the Ashanti Regional Manager of GTP, Mr Kwasi Baiden, said the partnership between his outfit and the department would be a mutually beneficial one.
He urged the students to seize the platform provided by the department to project themselves.
He also encouraged them to explore their creativity and think outside the box to launch themselves into the fashion world.
COLTEK
Principal of COLTEK, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, said the donation would not only boost teaching and learning but would be a major support of government’s agenda to promote and project quality Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in the country.
He expressed gratitude to Vlisco for the support, reiterating that funding tertiary education was a shared responsibility between the state and the private sector.
Prof. Sarfo also commended the Department of Fashion Design and Textile Education (DFDTE) for the initiative to seek external support for the Exhibition and Fashion Show.
He was hopeful that the students would add value to the fabrics through their designs and flaunt their honed talents and expertise gained from years of training at COLTEK.
The Head of the DFDTE, Dr Josephine Ntiri, also expressed appreciation to Vlisco for the gesture and said she hoped the partnership would be long-lasting as it presented a major avenue for bridging the gap between academia and industry.
