Nightmare at GCB, Mampong-Akuapim
I took a relation to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong-Akuapim in the Eastern Region.
Subsequently, I decided to go to the GCB Bank at Mampong to cash a GCB Bank cheque.
The customer population at the time of my visit was about 15 and it took me close to an hour to be served.
There was no respect for the established protocol of first-come first first-served. Service was rendered on the basis of favouritism and sometimes this was facilitated by some of the bank staff.
Some regular customers, who do business with the branch, corroborated this assertion of favouritism and undue delay in serving customers amidst complaints and murmurings.
Apart from the slow pace of service, there was only one teller serving the public.
Additionally, corporate customers who come to deposit bulk cash could spend a lot of time at the counter before service is fully rendered.
It is my prayer that the bank will live up to the message of its corporate theme of "Your bank for life" by addressing this ineptitude at the branch, even in this high-tech age.
