Deadly attacks hit Egypt's Sinai peninsula
At least 11 soldiers have been killed in a wave of attacks by suspected jihadist militants in Egypt's Sinai peninsula, security officials say.
The assailants detonated a car bomb outside the police station in the town of Sheikh Zuweid, in North Sinai province, and targeted six checkpoints.

One unconfirmed report said they also took a number of soldiers captive.
The attacks come two days after the assassination of Egypt's public prosecutor in the capital, Cairo.
