PHOTOS: President Akufo-Addo assures Burkina of ECOWAS support after deadly terror attack
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré and the people of Burkina Faso of the support of the countries of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) towards ridding the region of the menace of terrorism.
President Akufo-Addo who is the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority paid a brief visit to the Burkinabe capital on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, following last Saturday's terrorist attack which claimed the lives of 160 persons in the Francophone country.
"The fight against terrorism and violent extremism is a collective one, and I assured President Kabore and the people of Burkina Faso of the support of the countries of ECOWAS towards ridding our region of this menace," President Akufo-Addo wrote in a Facebook post.

Terror attack
Armed men have killed 160 people in an attack on a village in northern Burkina Faso, the country's worst attack in recent years.
Homes and the local market were burned during the overnight raid on the village of Solhan.
No group has said it was behind the violence, but Islamist attacks are increasingly common in the country, especially in border regions.
Burkina Faso shares border with the northern part of Ghana.
The Burkinabe President declared three days of national mourning saying, in a tweet, that "we must stand united against the forces of evil".
The security forces are currently looking for the perpetrators, he added.
