Saudi Government donates US$500 million to fight covid-19 pandemic

The Government of Saudi Arabia has announced a 500-Million-US Dollar donation to relevant international organisations to support the global efforts in combatting the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This was reported by the Saudi Press Agency in Riyadh.

The Saudi Government which holds the presidency of the G7 explained that the donation was necessitated by the global urgency to find a cure for the disease. Adding that the donation will go a long way to enhancing emergency preparedness and response, developing and distributing of diagnostic tools, treatments and new vaccines, and other unmet needs.

This generous act of benevolence was coordinated by King Salman AL Saud.

The Saudi Government also called on other charitable and non-governmental organisations to come on board to facilitate the collective fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In another development in a virtual conference by members of G20 coordinated by Saudi Arabia on Thursday, last members pledged a “united front’ in the fight against coronavirus and to injecting USD 5 trillion into the global economy to counter the pandemic amid forecasts of a deep global recession.

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin joined the emergency videoconference chaired by Saudi Arabia’ King Salman.
