VACANCY: experienced upper primary teachers

A Cambridge associate school is looking for dedicated, experienced and qualified teachers for its upper primary department. This school provides a student-focused approach to teaching, underlying it with a caring ethos and a belief that being a class teacher is not just about teaching but about having a creative and innovative approach that truly nurtures students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching all areas of the curriculum
  • Taking responsibility for the progress of primary-aged pupils
  • Organising the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment 
  • Planning, preparing, and presenting lessons that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the class
  • Maintaining discipline 
  • Being able to build a strong and  honest relationship with the students
  • Recording pupils’ progress, attainment and  achievement 
  • Providing feedback to parents and carriers on pupils’ progress 
  • Taking part in extra-curricular activities
  • Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the curriculum as well as current trends in teaching and learning.

  1. The ability to adapt teaching methods and content to suit each student's needs and learning styles.
  2. Excellent class management skills
  3. Outstanding planning, organization and time-management skills.
  4. Having taught the Cambridge Primary Programme
  5. Demonstrating commitment to the development of pupils and being professional
  6. Familiarity with a wide range of technologies and the ability to integrate them effectively into the learning experience of students.
  7. Five C's: critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration and character
  8. Strong team working skills and the ability to collaborate with other staff and education professionals on a range of initiatives
  9. Solid ability to use your initiative and think on your feet
  10. Demonstrating emotional intelligence by fostering empathy and creating a positive environment.
  11. Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development: staying up-to-date to  new methods
  12. Understanding and appreciating our cultural values and distilling them in everyday life.

Qualification/ Experience

1. A minimum qualification of a degree in basic education or any relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
2. A minimum of five years (5) of experience working as a teacher
