2nd SDM Open Taekwondo Championships
The second SDM Open Taekwondo has ended in Accra.
The two day event, which attracted about 150 children from various schools and taekwondo clubs in the Greater Accra region provided fun for both participants and spectators.

In the junior and children categories, three member teams from the various schools took turns in showcasing how well they could synchronise and coordinate their movements with energy, concentration and rhythm in assembly forms (poomsae) and breaking of boards (chokpa).
The winning teams included the West African Mission Taekwondo Academy( Tema), Martin Luther King International School (Ashaiman), Kingscourt International School (Ashaiman), Prismax Martial Arts Academy (Tema), Hill View International School (New Ashongman), University of Ghana Taekwondo Club (Legon).
Gregory Azah of Martin Luther King International School won the best player trophy for breaking in the junior category.
According to Coordinator of the competition , Master Instructor Adnan O. Lamptey, Taekwondo was essential for nurturing leadership qualities such as courage and tenacity as well as promoting physical and mental discipline in children. “Taekwondo also boosts concentration, sharpens the reflex and makes children more alert”, he added.
