Born Hero Foundation holds spelling contest

A student of the Great Stars Montessori School in Accra, Richard Adjei - Kyeremateng has emerged winner of a Spelling Bee Contest organised by the Born Hero Foundation in Accra.

This was after he defeated four other contestants to lift the trophy. For his award, he was presented with a mini tablet and a smartphone, as well as a certificate of participation.

Master Derrick Tayi of the Emmanuel Villa International School placed second, while Master Tornam Gabienu of the Feemep Saviour School took the third place.

For their prizes, Master Tayi also took home a smart phone and a certificate of participation, while Master Gabienu received a Longman dictionary and a certificate of participation.

Master Delali Kluvia and Miss Pristine Agbettoh of the Star of the Sea RC Basic School and the Emmanuel Presbyterian School placed fourth and fifth respectively.They each received a Longman dictionary and a certificate of participation.

In all, 30 students from nine schools in the Ablekuma West Sub-Metro in Accra, participated in the contest but only five qualified for the final.

The contestants were from the Emmanuel Villa international School, the Riches of Glory Academy, the Great Stars Montessori School, the Feemep Saviour School and the Emmanuel Presbyterian School.

The rest were the Modern Day Academy, the Top Class Education Centre, the Star of the Sea RC Basic School and God’s Home School.

In an interview with the Co- Founder of the Born Hero Foundation, Mr Victor Nkansah, he said the competition was to help prepare students to learn new words in order to improve on their reading skills.

Mr Nkansah added that the foundation would organise other activities such as reading, writing and debate competitions to help children to develop themselves academically.
