Monitor children’s use of Internet

The Administrative Officer of the Ghana Police Training School, Mrs Mercy Brown Wilson, has called on parents to keep an eye on their children whenever they use the Internet.

This is because most parents allow their children to use smart phones, which usually have Internet connectivity, and that is gradually taking over children’s ability to think through issues when the need arises, she opined.

Madame Wilson said this at the 41st graduation, and Speech and Prize-giving Day of the St Martin De Porres School at Dansoman, Accra.

She noted that it was the responsibility of every parent to protect his or her child from violence, abuse and exposure to physical and moral hazards.

Mrs Wilson further urged parents to be cautious of the sort of friends their children made because of the increasing rate of child defilement in the country.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Emmanuel Ntow, who spoke on the theme: “Improving the quality of child education through parent-teacher collaboration”, described the theme as relevant and timely because Ghanaians had continuously questioned the quality of education in the country.

In all, 85 students were honoured.
