How Akwamuhemea climaxed her 60 years reign

In a three- day event, the Akwamu Traditional Area in the Eastern Region  celebrated its 2024 Akwasidae Kese and the 60th anniversary of the enstoolment of their Queen Mother,  Nana Afrakoma II.

The celebration, which began on Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 15, 2024, was held at the forecourt of the Bogyawe Palace, Akwamufie.

It attracted a host of dignitaries, including the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, and the wife of the late former President, Jerry John Rawlings, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings and her children.

Also in attendance was the  Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II,  the Otublohum Asafo groups and traditional rulers  across the country.

In addition to the durbar held on Saturday, there was a health walk, live band performances featuring musicians, Kwabena Kwabena, and Akwaboah.

Addressing attendees at the durbar grounds, the queen mother thanked the dignitaries, guests, and the people of Akwamu for the recognition and honour received.

She also called on the youth to stay away from negative influences and focus on their education and personal growth.

The queen mother also honoured some long serving staff, chiefs and traditional rulers.

The celebration was climaxed with a thanksgiving service  on Sunday, September 15. Gospel musician,  MOG  Music, and other singers within Akwamu led  praise sessions with exhortations from representatives of the local council of churches in Akwamu.
