He explained that education provides the opportunity to identify new challenges and explore innovative solutions.

“We must continue to adapt and evolve, ensuring that our programs remain relevant and impactful in a rapidly changing world,” he said.

He was speaking at a seminar held by the Alumni Association, Ghana (KAAG) in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

The seminar was on the theme, “The Impact of Capacity Improvement and Enhancement for Tomorrow (CIAT) Fellowship Programs on Public Service Delivery and Governance in Ghana.”

The event brought together alumni, public officials, and representatives from various sectors to reflect on the successes, challenges, and future directions of these initiatives.

Innovation

The Head of Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, highlighted that international education opens up new perspectives and introduces innovative governance models.

“Korea’s evolution into a developed nation offers valuable lessons in governance and planning," he said. He shared that Korea’s efforts to invest in human capital and decentralize governance have yielded impressive results for beneficiary countries like Ghana, which are worth emulating to enhance Ghana’s systems.

Programme

The Korea International Cooperation Agency was established in 1991 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea as a governmental organization to implement the Korean government’s Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) programs. Its Ghana office has been supporting and implementing developmental programs in Ghana in four key sectors: Public Health, Agricultural and Rural Development, Education, and Governance.

CIAT

The Korea International Development Agency has, through its fellowship program (Capacity Improvement and Enhancement for Tomorrow, CIAT), trained about 1,587 Ghanaian public officials in various courses, including Master’s and PhD programs, as well as country-specific and multi-country programs in Korea.
