Fire for Future Conference empowers SHS Students in Kumasi

Hundreds of Senior High School (SHS) students gathered at the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), Ayigya in Kumasi on Friday, May 1, 2026, for the much-anticipated Fire for Future Conference 2026 (SHS Edition)—a transformative youth development initiative organised by Draema Services and Pedlo Energy, in collaboration with the Guidance and Counselling Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ashanti Region.

The conference, which commenced at 9 am, brought together students, educators, professionals, and industry leaders under one roof with a singular mission: to inspire, educate, and equip young people with the mindset and tools necessary for purposeful living and career excellence.

Delivering the keynote address, Ing. Dr. Peter Godslove Debrah, Chief Executive Officer of Pedlo Energy Company Ltd., challenged students to take ownership of their future by cultivating discipline, vision, and resilience. He emphasised the importance of aligning personal passion with national development, urging participants to see themselves as agents of change in Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.

The convener of the conference, Richmond Ayi D’Almeida, CEO of Draema Services, underscored the rationale behind the initiative, noting that the programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application in order to equip the students settle for best of life. “The future is not something distant; it is something we build daily through our choices, habits, and mindset,” he remarked.

The conference featured a diverse line up of speakers and facilitators from various professional backgrounds, each addressing critical areas relevant to youth development. Topics discussed included The Five Principles of Life, Gen Z: My Strengths and Challenges, Drugs: My Body, Reaction & Effects, Driven by Passion & Purpose. These sessions provided practical insights into personal development, health awareness, and life choices.

Among the speakers were Emil Ameyibor, Programmes Coordinator; Mawuli Asempapah, CEO of 4Heem Print Embassy; Ing. Twerenyame Acquaah, Operations and Civil Engineer; and Pharm. Elizabeth Modupe D’Almeida, Specialist Pharmacist. Each speaker shared personal experiences and professional expertise, creating a rich and engaging learning environment for participants.

A notable highlight of the event was the candid discussion on drug abuse and its long-term consequences, which resonated strongly with students. Facilitators stressed the importance of informed decision-making and self-awareness in navigating peer pressure and societal influences.

The conference was not solely academic. It also featured vibrant performances from celebrated Ghanaian artistes Adom Kiki and Naamah Atta Yeboah, adding an element of entertainment and cultural expression to the day’s activities.

Interactive sessions, including a lively question-and-answer segment, allowed students to engage directly with speakers, seek clarification, and explore issues affecting their academic and personal lives. Over 50 students actively participated in the Q&A, demonstrating keen interest and enthusiasm.

Participants were also treated to refreshments courtesy of various sponsors like Promasidor Ghana Ltd, Nescafé by Nestlé and LaVonce, whose support contributed significantly to the success of the event. The conference concluded with networking opportunities and group photographs, symbolising unity and shared purpose.

Organisers expressed gratitude to the Ghana Education Service, Dr William Amankra (Regional Director, GES), Dr Mrs Faustina Opoku-Anyamesem, Ps Joshua Obeng of CCC, partner institutions, sponsors, and volunteers for their invaluable contributions. They reiterated their commitment to sustaining the initiative and expanding its reach to impact more young people across the country.
