NSMQ 2024: Mfantsipim School, Osei Tutu, PRESEC book  places in semi-finals

In a series of electrifying contests, Mfantsipim School, Osei Tutu Senior High School and Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) have all secured spots in the semifinals of the NSMQ 2024..

The tension throughout the day was palpable, as each school fought hard to outsmart their competitors in a bid to claim victory and move closer to the coveted title.

The first contest proved to be an unforgettable battle, especially between Mfantsipim  School and Prempeh College.

Both schools showcased remarkable skill and intellect, ending the contest with 53 points each, forcing a dramatic tie. 

To break this deadlock, the quiz mistress posed a final question to the two schools. 

Mfantsipim reacted swiftly, delivering the correct answer and securing their lead with a final score of 56 points.

Prempeh College, despite their strong performance, finished with 53 points, while Swedru Secondary School, who also participated in the contest, ended with 27 points. 

The high stakes of the tiebreaker kept the audience on edge, highlighting the intense competition that has come to define this year’s NSMQ.

In the second contest of the day, Osei Tutu SHS faced fierce competition from Apam SHS and Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS). 

The schools engaged in a strategic and closely contested battle throughout the rounds. 

However, Osei Tutu SHS gradually pulled ahead, demonstrating impressive mastery over the quiz content, and concluded with 46 points. 

Apam SHS, who also showed great potential, followed with 39 points, while GSTS managed to secure 30 points.

The contest was a testament to Osei Tutu’s strong preparation and determination as they outpaced their opponents and claimed their spot in the semifinals.

The third and final contest featured reigning champions PRESEC, Pope John’s SHS & Minor Seminary, and St. James Seminary SHS. 

PRESEC entered the competition with high expectations and did not disappoint, delivering a commanding performance.

They maintained their dominance throughout the rounds, finishing with a solid 59 points.

Pope John’s SHS & Minor Seminary gave a spirited effort, managing to secure 46 points, while St. James Seminary SHS wrapped up with 31 points. 

PRESEC’s victory reinforced their standing as one of the tournament's top contenders, as they confidently advanced to the semifinals.

With these exciting victories, Mfantsipim, Osei Tutu, and PRESEC now head into the next stage, fueled by their impressive performances. 

The competition is only set to intensify as the semifinals approach, with each team eager to claim the ultimate prize in this year's National Science and Maths Quiz.
