11 Companies donate towards Farmers Day

Nikoi (right), Area Sales Manager, Tex Styles Limited.The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MFAD) has received cheques for various amounts totalling GH¢45,900, cash and items from 11 institutions in support of this year’s Farmers Day celebration.

The donation is to support the 29th Farmers Day celebration slated for the Volta Region on December 6, 2013.

Gabassa Enterprise and Caitec Delta, an electrical company, each gave GH¢10,000, while Prudential Bank Limited and Owakus Enterprise each donated GH¢5,000.  

The rest are: Zoom Alliance, GH¢2,000; Bilford Marine Services, GH¢1,000, and Veronica Enterprise, GH¢500.

Texstyles Ghana Limited presented 200 pieces of wax cloths, amounting to GH¢10,000, with Special Ice Mineral Water donating 100 cartons of bottled water worth GH¢1,500.

Traore and Brother, dealers in fishing equipment, presented nylon fishing nets and twine amounting to GH¢400, while the old students of the Ghana Secondary Technical School donated products worth GH¢500.

The deputy minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, thanked the companies for their gesture and called on all Ghanaians to contribute towards the success of the celebration.

He said over the past years the government had made huge investments in the agriculture sector, since the sector continued to be the backbone of the country’s economy.
