The 18th Annual Shea Industry Conference opened in Accra on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang highlighting the importance of the shea industry to the economies of both Ghana and Nigeria.

On the sidelines of the conference, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Owan Enoh, led a delegation to meet with Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama.

Discussions focused on strengthening the shea value chain and promoting intra-African trade.

Key Ghanaian officials, including Deputy Trade Minister Sampson Ahi, who represented Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, as well as representatives from Ghana EXIM Bank and Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, joined their Nigerian counterparts for the engagement.

The meetings aimed to boost financing, expand processing capacity, improve market access, and promote value addition within the shea sector.

They also sought to create more opportunities for rural women while strengthening regional cooperation.
