
27 arrested in Western region anti-galamsey raid at Wassa Amanten

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested 27 individuals in an intelligence-led operation targeting illegal mining activities at Wassa Amanten.
According to a police statement, the operation, which focused on multiple sites in close proximity, also led to the seizure of one tricycle, an unregistered Boxer motorbike, and several water pumping machines.
A changfan machine discovered at the scene was destroyed on-site as part of efforts to dismantle illegal mining infrastructure.
All suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the seized equipment has been retained as evidence.
