41, 647 students registered for ‘No Fee Stress’ initiative – Presidency

A total of 41,647 students from public tertiary institutions across the country have successfully completed their registration on the portal launched to implement the government’s ‘No Fee Stress’ initiative, which covers admission and facility user fees for all first-year students.

This was made known by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu in a post on X.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu in his post on May 21, 2025 indicated that a total of 57,327 students have accessed the portal as of now.

"UPDATE on "No fees Stress". 57,327 students have accessed portal. 41,647 students have completed registration," he wrote.

The Presidential Spokesperson emphasised that registration on the portal is necessary for banking details of students to be obtained to facilitate reimbursement to all first year students who have made payments.

"Registration necessary to obtain banking details of students for reimbursement to those who have already paid their fees and  to validate lists submitted by public tertiary institutions," he added.

Launched in April 2025, the portal is a dedicated digital platform that provides students, families and institutions with comprehensive information on eligibility, institutional coverage and beneficiaries.

It requires first-year students to submit their application for the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to take care of their admission and facility user fees.

The policy covers all Ghanaian first-year students in public tertiary institutions and it enables such students to access financial support from the government of Ghana.

To apply, a student is required to visit NoFeesStress.sltf.gov.gh or www.slftf.gov.gh portal and provide his/her Ghana Card Identification number, telephone number and student ID number.

As part of the 2025 budget allocations for key policies and interventions, an amount of GH¢499.8 million has been earmarked for the No-Academic-Fee policy for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions under the ‘No-Fees-Stress’ initiative.

This was announced by the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, during his presentation of the 2025 Budget in Accra on Tuesday, March 11.
