‘Abosam tawa’ lands man in jail

A 40-year-old man, Seth Onipa-Nka, has been sentenced to 48 months’ imprisonment with hard labour for possessing narcotic drugs.

The prosecutor, ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah, told the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Asmah Akwasi Yeboah, that the complainants in the case were policemen from the Akuse District Command while the convict was a farmer at Aklomuase, a suburb of Odumase-Krobo.

According to the prosecutor, on June 13 this year, the complainants were on their usual patrol duties when they had information about some criminal hideouts at Somanya, Odumase-Krobo, Nuaso and Kpong.

The prosecutor said the police quickly moved to the various locations and the convict was spotted at one of the hideouts with wrappers and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

On seeing the police, Onipa-Nka reportedly took to his heels but he was given a hot chase, arrested and detained at the police station for investigations.

The prosecutor said later when the leaves were tested, they proved to be Indian hemp. Onipa-Nka was therefore processed and charged before the court.
