Adu Antwi awarded Honorary Doctorate

The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr Adu A. Antwi, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Finance & Accounting degree.

The award, conferred on him by the Commonwealth University, Belize, sought to recognise Mr Antwi for his inspirational academic and professional achievement.

A citation accompanying the award lauded him for his contribution towards the promotion of good corporate governance and his effort towards capital market development in Ghana.

Mr Antwi received the recognition at a graduation ceremony of the Commonwealth University, held in Dubai on August 6, this year.

Short profile

Born to Ghanaian parents, Mr Antwi completed his middle school education at his home town , Anyinam-Kotoku in the Eastern region in 1972. He began working in Accra as a factory floor worker in 1975.

Mr Antwi is a member of the Financial Stability Board Regional Consultative Group for Sub-Saharan Africa and West African Capital Market Integration Council.

He previously served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, the Graduate School of the Central University College, the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, and the National Banking College. 

Mr Antwi has also served as an Instructor for the Ghana Stock Exchange’s securities courses and as a Resource Person for the West African Institute for Economic and Financial Management, Nigeria.

 He currently serves on the Councils of two Universities in Ghana, the University College of Management Studies, and the Heritage Christian University College.
