Agona East teachers presented with Friday wear
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East Constituency, Ms Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyerr, has presented teachers in the Agona East District in the Central Region with a half piece of fabric each for their hard work and unmeasured services in helping to develop the human resource for the area and the country at large.

At a ceremony during which she provided each of the 1,200 teachers in both the basic and senior high schools in the district with a half piece of GTP New Style fabric to be used as Friday Wear, she asked them to continue with their hard work and urged them to “make all the efforts to help our children and your good works would speak for you individually one day”.
Ms Pokua Sawyerr, affectionately called Obaatanpa in her constituency, who is also the Deputy Central Regional Minister, donated the fabric procured at a cost of GH¢30,000 at her birthday party organised at Agona Kwanyako, her hometown, recently.
Dedication
She dedicated her birthday to all the teachers in the district and the constituency for their services, and asked the people to always remember her efforts and those of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), pointing out, “The NDC is your hope for schools, development of roads, quality health delivery and all”.
In a speech, the Agona East District Education Director, Dr Mustapha Alhassan Abubakari, thanked Ms Pokua Sawyerr for giving the teachers the fabric for their Friday Wear.
He acknowledged that the gesture was the first to be shown by any MP in the country and asked the teachers to sew their dresses within two weeks.
“I shall visit your schools to see the men in long-sleeved shirts and the women in slit and Kaba,” Dr Abubakari said.
Gratitude
Representatives of the teachers took turns to make short speeches in which they all thanked the MP for her gesture.
