For conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing, Yohanne Tettey, an 18-year-old apprentice mason, has been caught in the long arm of the law.
The Odumase Krobo Circuit Court has, therefore, sentenced him to 36 months’ imprisonment in hard labour on each count. The sentences are to run concurrently.
He pleaded guilty to all three charges and was sentenced on his own plea.
The court also issued a bench warrant for the arrest of his accomplices, one Daniel and Robert, alias Moghabi, who were both at large.
Prosecuting, Inspector Emmanuel Tetteh told the court presided over by Asmah Akwasi Asiedu that the complainants in the case were Governor Larwe, Yohannes Kodjo Boateng and Andrews Nartey, who are all farmers at Sutapong-Agblezee, while the convict was a mason apprentice at Odumase-Krobo.
He said at about 11.45 p.m. on April 11, 2014, the convict and his accomplices came to Sutapong-Agblezee, broke into the rooms of the complainants, stole s everal items, including a kente cloth, gold ornaments, necklaces, soap and quantities of beads, and bolted.
He said eight days later, upon a tip-off and intense search, the convict was arrested from his hideout and some of the items were retrieved.
In his caution statement to the police, he admitted committing the offence, and mentioned Daniel and Robert as his accomplices.
The court ordered the police to give the retrieved items to the rightful owners.
