Attorney-General: Prosecutions in National Service and Sky Train scandals to begin in April

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has confirmed that prosecutions in the National Service and Sky Train scandals will commence by mid-April, with suspects actively cooperating with investigators.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, March 24, 2025, Dr Ayine disclosed that eight suspects had been interrogated, with many providing crucial information to aid the investigations.

"I can confirm that investigations will conclude in the National Service and Sky Train scandals at the middle of April for prosecutions to begin," he stated.

Progress under ‘Operation Recover All Loot’

The press briefing was held to update the public on the government’s "Operation Recover All Loot" (ORAL) initiative, which has already resulted in the arrest of two former New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointees.

Dr Ayine revealed that investigators had gathered significant evidence, including suspicious payments made to top executives by private vendors. He also alleged that a Ghanaian Member of Parliament (MP) accepted a bribe to suppress media coverage of the scandal.

"We now have evidence of payments made into the accounts of top National Service executives by private vendors and staff of the scheme," Dr Ayine added.

Sky Train scandal

Addressing the Sky Train case, Dr Ayine alleged that GH¢2 million was paid at the request of Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).

He further claimed that Solomon Asamoah, the CEO of GIIF, who is currently in Senegal, has pledged to return to Ghana within three months.

"Irrespective of Sky Train, we can confirm that the GH¢2 million was paid at the request of the GIIF Chairman, and the CEO, Solomon Asamoah, is currently hiding in Senegal," he said.

With prosecutions set to begin in April, the Attorney-General assured Ghanaians that justice would be served, and public funds recovered from individuals implicated in the scandals.
