Murder suspect Bonty Killer arrested at Buduburam

The key suspect in last weekend’s murder of a 34-year old man at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi has been arrested from his hideout at Buduburam in the Central region.

Bonty Killer was arrested by the police following a tip off.

The Kasoa District Police Commander, Superintendent Samuel Tibil Punobyin told Graphic Online that the suspect has been arrested and handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

He however did not give details of the arrest but confirmed that the suspect was now in the hands of the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command placed a GH¢2,000 bounty each on four suspected criminals who allegedly shot and killed Kwame Antwi at Ash Town, near Nana Buabasa’s residence, in Kumasi last Friday.

Antwi, until his death, was a security man at C. Woermann Company Limited at Atonsu in Kumasi.

The four suspects were Kwame Sasraku, Bonty Killer (alias Wunda), West (alias Nana Yaw) and Dragno.

According to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye, it was through investigations that it came out that Bonty Killer, also known as Hyundai Guy, used a weapon, suspected to be a locally manufactured pistol, to shoot Antwi and relocated to Accra.

He said about 5:30 p.m. last Friday, Antwi, in the company of his friends, Richard Owusu, Richard Wiafe, Patrick Sarpong and Kofi Kwarteng, went to a ‘pito’ bar at Ash Town Down Town area to drink.

Immediately Antwi and his friends left the bar, called Sweet Mother, they were accosted by two young men who attacked them.

Five other persons, including Sasraku, a goldsmith apprentice who resides at Ash Town, reportedly joined the two men to physically assault Antwi and his friends and, in the process, Antwi was shot in the head.

The assailants later joined a waiting taxi, a KIA Pride, and sped off.
