Busted: Two robbers run out of luck in Takoradi

Two suspected robbers had their luck run out in Takoradi on Wednesday afternoon, when a few hours after they had stolen, Gh₵33,000 from their victim, they were accosted at a police checkpoint.

According to Graphic Online’s Western Regional Reporter, Kobla Dotse Aklorbortu, at about 2pm the police received a distress call from Mr Michael Agyekum, a businessman about the incident.

According to the police, Agyekum explained that the two men with a blue Toyota Matrix vehicle with a Nigerian registered number plate stole Gh₵33,000 he had just cashed from the Takoradi branch of Prudential Bank.

The police information room quickly informed the various police check points to be on the lookout for the said vehicle.

The vehicle with registration number EKY 878 FB which matched the description given by Agyekum was subsequently intercepted by policemen on duty at the Inchaban Police Barrier.

The two suspects, Abidoye Adekunlo, aged 47 and Alhaji Sulimon Olaoluwa, aged 44 were arrested and the Gh₵33,000 was also retrieved from them.

They are in police custody pending further investigations.
