The initiative is aimed at uniting stakeholders in different sectors to accelerate a reduction in AIDS-related deaths and new HIV infections among adolescents by 2020.

It forms part of the efforts to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

The campaign focusses on four key action areas, which are: engaging, mobilising and empowering adolescents as leaders and actors of social change; improving data collection to better inform programming and placing adolescent HIV firmly on the political agenda to spur concrete action and mobilise resources.

The First Ladies of Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Chad, Ethiopia, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, The Sudan and Burkina Faso supported Mrs Mahama to launch the campaign in Accra yesterday.
