They included 70 pieces of tables and chairs for the pupils and 17 sets of teachers’ tables and chairs for all the classrooms.

The donation was in response to an appeal made by the headmistress of the school, Mrs Juliana Acquah, for assistance in cash and kind during the school’s last speech and prize-giving day in July this year.

Response to appeal

Making the presentation, the Director of Christian Education at the CACI, Apostle Joseph Sakyi, said the church responded quickly to the appeal because children were the future leaders who would propel the nation into prosperity.

He asked the children to respect their parents, teachers and the elderly and also learn hard to achieve excellence in their respective fields of endeavour.

“You should be encouraged to work hard because God is preparing you for a good future,” Apostle Sakyi told the children and also asked the teachers to take up the challenge of raising responsible children for the nation and the world at large.

He further urged the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school to pray and give the needed guidance to both the children and the school authorities to help them get the foundation on which to build their future.

Receiving the donation, Mrs Acquah thanked the CACI for responding favourably to the appeal she made, and asked other individuals and institutions to help raise the standard of the school.

She also praised Mrs Doris Sakyi, a teacher of the school and wife of Apostle Sakyi, who took the matter up after the appeal was made and sent an SOS message for assistance from the Church, which received a favourable response.

The Accra Metro Coordinator of Public Basic Schools, Mrs Frances Williams, thanked the donors and asked both the children and their teachers to handle the furniture well to achieve its lifespan.

A programme of Nine Lessons and Carols by the school was held to usher in the presentation ceremony, which was also attended by the PTA members. — GNA
