Church of Jesus Christ holds Miracle of Christmas service
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Africa West Area, has held the maiden edition of the interdenominational "Miracle of Christmas", a special Christmas celebration featuring carols, singing and a lighting ceremony.
The event, held in Accra last Friday, November 28, 2025, brought together members and friends of the church and other invited churches, traditional representatives and Muslim representatives to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The programme featured performances by the church's choir, who sang traditional Christmas carols and hymns, filling the air with joy and festive cheer.
The highlight of the evening was the lighting ceremony, where the church's premises were illuminated with colourful Christmas lights, symbolising the light of Christ and the hope and joy.
In an address at the event, the First Counsellor, Africa West Area Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Adeyinka A. Ojediran, said the event, which brought together people of different faiths and denominations, demonstrated the country's commitment to religious freedom and tolerance.
He praised the country’s religious diversity and the spirit of unity among its people and urged Christians to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by showing love to all mankind.
Elder Ojediran called on believers to be selfless as Christ, who came to redeem humanity and lead people back to the Heavenly Father, while encouraging people to have hope in Christ, trust in him and show love and kindness to others, especially during times of challenges and difficulties.
“It's a time to show kindness, and more importantly, gratitude for that special gift. I invited people to have hope in Christ. Even when we are faced with difficulties and challenges and tribulations and afflictions, we can trust in him because he descended below all things and he rose above all things,” Elder Ojediran said.
He added that the church's Light the World initiative, which kicked off on December 1, would feature daily activities and events throughout December, focusing on spreading light, love and kindness.
Leadership
The Presidential Advisor on the Economy, Seth Tekper, who represented the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, underscored the importance of faith in public service leadership, saying it was a calling that required character, discipline, humility and compassion.
He said faith taught leaders to serve others, rather than seeking to be served, and reminded them that every decision had far-reaching consequences.
Mr Terkper stressed that leadership without faith was only mechanical, but leadership with faith was purposeful and anchored in values.
He urged leaders to lead with integrity, compassion, and conviction, saying faith was not a private treasure but a public responsibility and trust.
“Light does not compete with other lights.
When one candle is lit, it gives others permission to shine.
Similarly, when leaders act with integrity, it inspires.
It inspires more integrity.
When leaders act with compassion, it encourages compassion.
Light spreads and diminishes darkness,” the former Minister of Finance stated.
