Curfew on Nakpanduri, Bimbilla, Bunkprugu, Alavanyo and Nkonya renewed

The Ministry of the Interior has announced the renewal of curfew on Nakpanduri, Bimbilla and Bunkprugu all in the Northern region as well as Alavanyo and Nkonya in the Volta region.

For Nakpanduri and its environs including Kpatritinga, Bonbila, Borgni Boatarrigu, and Sakogu communities a 10:00pm to 4:00am curfew is in effect from Friday 12th June, 2015.

There is also a total ban on all persons in the affected communities from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon, a statement by the ministry said and warned that any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.

A similar firearms restrictions have also been imposed on Bimbilla and its environs where a curfew is in force from 9:00pm to 5:00am.

On the Bunkprugu township, a 4.00pm to 6:00am curfew and firearm restrictions is also in place while a 6:00pm to 6:00am curfew and firearm restrictions have been imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya.

The statement said the conditions have been imposed in consultation with the respective regional security councils and appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of the affected areas to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
