Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested one person in connection with the killing of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, whose body was found in the boot of his car at Sabin Akrofuom on the outskirts of Kumasi.

Mr Singh had earlier been reported missing, prompting a police search. At about 2.00 p.m. on April 25, 2026, officers received information that his vehicle had been located near Royal Lemosey Hospital on the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom.

A team moved to the scene and found the car parked by the roadside. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of Mr Singh’s body in the boot, with multiple stab wounds.

The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has been impounded to aid investigations.

The suspect is in custody and assisting with investigations.

Following the incident, the Inspector General of Police has deployed a special team of intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command and help track down all persons linked to the crime.

“The Police assure the public that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice and urge anyone with relevant information to assist the investigation,” a statement from the command said.

The statement was dated April, 26,2026 and signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
