E P Church Teshie donates to Fern House Orphanage to mark Homecoming Celebration
The Evangelical Presbyterian (E P) Church Ghana – Teshie Divine Victory Congregation has donated a variety of essential items to the Fern House Orphanage in Teshie as part of activities marking its first-ever Homecoming Celebration and 58th anniversary.
The donated items included a 43-inch television, 25 backpacks, 25 lunch boxes, two irons, four pillows, a blender, 10 plastic brooms, 11 packs of toilet rolls, textbooks, mats, mosquito spray and packs of beverages.
Additionally, the group presented a gallon of cooking oil, two bags of rice, packs of spaghetti, sardines, tinned tomatoes, Kivo pepper, gari, corn dough, soft drinks, and various assorted detergents.
As part of the visit on Thursday, October 23, the group, comprising about 40 members, spent time with the children, engaging in praise and worship, accompanied by drumming and dancing.
Led by District Pastor Rev. Richard K Nimo, the team also prayed for the children, asking for God’s grace to help them grow into responsible and purposeful adults.
The members also used the opportunity to share motivational messages with the caretakers, encouraging them to live peacefully with one another.
Reconnection
Member of the Homecoming Planning Committee, Madam Efam Dovi, explained that the E P Church Ghana, Teshie Branch, which has existed for 58 years, is organizing the Homecoming celebration to reconnect with former members, past visitors, and ministers as the church prepares for its 60th anniversary.
She said as part of the celebration, the church decided to give back to the community by donating to the Fern House Orphanage, a privately run home in Teshie.

She also mentioned that the donations, including money, were all contributed voluntarily by church members based on the orphanage’s specific needs.
“So, as part of the homecoming celebration, we thought it was important to reunite and reconnect with our roots, and we also decided to give back to our community,” she said.
“We usually make donations to the Teshie Orphanage, the government-run one, but we have also come to appreciate the great work being done at the Fern House Orphanage. It’s a privately managed home with significant expenses, so we decided to come on board and support them,” she added.
Madam Dovi further explained that the celebration, held under the theme “Celebrating Our Growth and Growing in Faith,” is inspired by Jeremiah 39, symbolizing gratitude, unity and renewed spiritual commitment.
She said other activites marking the homecoming ceclebration include teaching service, choral music night, youth praise and worship programme dubbed “Shabak" and thanksgiving service to climax the event on Sunday.
Appreciation
Receiving the items, Administrator at Fern House Orphanage, Nii Kotey Niikoi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the E.P. Church Ghana, Teshie Branch, for their generous donations to the Fern House Orphanage.
He said the items received would greatly support the home’s work and the well-being of the children.
He also acknowledged that while donations are not always frequent, every contribution—no matter how small—makes a meaningful difference.

He encouraged others to also support the orphanage and prayed that God would bless the church and its members abundantly, answering their prayers in return for their kindness.
"We are so so happy. We are so so excited. And we know that the things brought forward will go a long way to advance the work," he said.
"Donations come but they don't come as you would want them to come. But once in a while, we have generous people that bring items. I mean if someone brings a bag of water and another person brings a pack of sugar, collectively they go a long way to help," he added.
