Renovation works on the restaurant, which is attached to the Wa Municipal Police Headquarters and serves both the police and the general public, took about three months to complete.

The Branch Manager of DKM, Mr Eugene Dery, handed over the facility to the Upper West Regional Police Command at a ceremony interspersed with music from the UWR Police Band. He said the gesture was a component of the company’s corporate social responsibility and had the objective of enhancing the relationship between the police and their civilians in the region.

He commended the police for its quick response to conflicts in the region and further lauded them for making themselves visible and accessible as it brought them closer to the people and served to reduce the intensity of crime in the society.

The Upper West Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Kwesi Duku, said modern policing was a shared responsibility for the public and the police.

He, therefore, called on the public to assist the police with information on criminal activities in the communities to enable the police to effectively track and control crime in the country.

He gave an assurance that the police would keep the identity of informants confidential.

"A policeman is a civilian in police uniform and a civilian is a policeman without a uniform," he said, adding that civilians had all the powers to expose those who flouted laws in order to create commotion in the region.

DCOP Mr Duku urged security personnel to remain focused and discharge their duties diligently in order to win the confidence of the public always.
