Dodo chiefs thank Prez Mahama for road project

The Chiefs of the Dodo Traditional Area in the Volta Region last Wednesday called on President John Mahama at the Flagstaff House to express their appreciation for the construction of the Dodo Pepesu – Nkwanta portion of the Eastern Corridor road. The road was recently opened by the President during his ‘Accounting to the People’ tour of the Volta Region.

Requests

The chiefs requested for more development projects to advance the area’s progress.

The Paramount Chief of the Dodo Traditional Area, Daasebre Obonie Sebewie, who led the delegation to the Presidency, said apart from the Eastern Corridor road, there were other important roads connecting the 15 towns in the traditional area which were deplorable.

He, therefore, appealed to the President to give immediate attention to those roads as well.

The chief also appealed for a senior high school (SHS) and said they had already set aside 24 acres of land for that purpose.

Response

President Mahama assured the chiefs that the government would continue to give priority to improvement of roads in the area and other parts of the Volta Region.

He said the reconstruction of the Eastern Corridor road would be pursued till its completion.

The President assured them that the Minister of Roads and Highways would expedite action on their request.

He specifically mentioned the Ahemasu Junction to Pepesu and said it would be added to the cocoa roads programme.

President Mahama further told them that a new community day senior high school (SHS) would be built at Dodo Amanfrom during the next phase of the government’s flagship Community Day SHS project.

He equally expressed appreciation to the chiefs for the visit and pledged the determination of his government to continue with its development agenda.
