A Driver’s mate was killed on Tuesday morning and his body tied up and dumped in an articulated truck along the Tema Motorway.
When Graphiconline got to the scene near the Ashaiman toll booth end of the motorway at about 9.00 a.m. Tuesday morning, a team of police personnel from the Crime Scene Unit from the Ashiaman Division of the Ghana Police Service were conducting preliminary investigation.
The body of the mate, identified only as Eric, whose intestines had gushed out, has since been conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue.
The deceased with multiple knife wounds, had both his hands and legs tied up with nylon sponge and ropes respectively.
Information gathered indicated that the articulated truck with registration number WR 4860-13 loaded with iron rods, was heading towards Takoradi from Tema.
The driver who gave his name as Joe, told Graphiconline's Tema Correspondent, Benjamin Xornam Glover that they set off from Tema for Takoradi on Monday.
He said like they also do, when he and his mate got to the Ashaiman toll booth end of the journey at about 8pm on Monday March 16, 2015, they decided to break the journey and continue on Tuesday dawn.
The driver said he left the mate at the scene only to return on Tuesday dawn only to find the body stabbed, tied and dumped in the driving compartment of the vehicle.
The driver said nothing was stolen from the vehicle and hence expressed surprise at the motive behind the crime.
A complaint was therefore lodged with the Ashaiman Police who arrived at the scene to conduct investigations.
